Ojai, CA 2018

You know you've arrived in Ojai when the air changes. It's not that Ventura has disappeared from your rear view mirror or that the signs read 33 instead of 101. But, provided you have the windows down, the air Changes: it mellows out, it becomes warming and inviting. Same for the light, it meanders in a gradient between amber and golden green, if that color does exist.

I had made good time from Downtown LA and arrived on Sunday morning just after the farmers market opened. Slight changes I said to myself, thinking of leaving things to chance. So I took the first produce I saw, and the first cuts the butcher offered.
